Hi all,

As part of the infrastructure maintenance, we intend to migrate the forge
in a timeframe of about two months.

This is not simply an upgrade, but a full migration from Redmine to GitLab-CE.

Thanks for the heads up. I curious as to the reasoning behind the switch to GitLab.

The server currently runs an obsolete version of Debian end updating
redmine has always been a pain due to packages dependencies, which
cannot be solved anymore in this old OS version.

We also do not use the specificities of Redmine, so any forge would
be almost OK for us. We use mainly git integration (which is already
an add on, not a core feature) and issue trackers.

We will keep Jenkins for Continuous Integration, we will not switch
to GitLab CI. Sébastien explained me that a Jankeins feature I do
use, i.e. knowing wich unit test failed when build breaks, was not
as easy with GiLab-CI, whicb seems to require per-unit-framework
specific anakysis, as it is not as taylored to Java as Jenkins is.

Luc

Thanks for maintaining the Orekit infrastructure!

Best Regards,
Evan

Migrating the git repository will be trivial, migrating the rest of the forge
(mainly issues) will be a more difficult task. We will try our best to
preserve
as much past data as we can.

Luc and Sébastien (who will do the hard work)
